Fredde's Musical Journey Sept 2020

Growing up in Stockholm, Sweden, my entire family was involved in music. My mother enjoyed many famous composer’s classical pieces on the piano, accompanied by my father on the trombone, my brother on cornet and tuba, my sister on cello or vocals. My grandmother was a classically trained singer from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. My grandfather played classical music on the organ, guitar, and piano. My niece Michaela Von Koch is a talented opera singer and performs in many countries.

Throughout my childhood, my brother had a great impact on my musical taste. He provided me with musical pieces that had a great influence on my musical direction. When I was around seven years old, I became fascinated by the classical master’s music. By eleven years old, I began to appreciate music. I played cornet in the youth brass orchestra until I was twelve years old. When I was sixteen years old, I formed a band called 'State' with Anders Jacobson (guitar), late Peter Kadar (bass) and Pontus Wennerberg aka LePont(drums). Later Pontus went on to write songs for the Backstreet Boys and other artists. The band 'State' played songs by Kiss and the Sex Pistols. We and also experimented with a few of our own compositions. When I was eighteen years old, I composed and recorded a song that played on a Stockholm radio station. It was played as a jingle.

In 1981, while working on a mini musical, school project, I invited the following to join: Edward Negussie (drums), Peter Fagerström (guitar) , and Kenneth Ericsson (bass). After two performances, Negussie, Ericsson and I formed a new band and named it "The Project".
